Sub Campus Nabha

Sub-campus of the institute was established on 1st December, 1987 at Bir-Dosanjh, Nabha in Punjab by acquiring land and other facilities from the Government of Punjab for research on improvement of Nili-Ravi buffaloes.

Mandate:

  • To establish an elite herd of Nili-Ravi buffaloes.
  • To conserve and propagate this breed.
  • To undertake research on all aspects of production and to undertake transfer of technologies to the end users.

The Sub-Campus is located at a distance of about 8 km from Nabha town in Patiala District. It is off the National Highway No. 1, approx. 300 km from Delhi. The nearest airport is Chandigarh, 100 km. from this Sub-campus.

  • Herd Strength: 486 (1st April 2022)

The Sub-campus has newly constructed Administrative-Block in addition to the old Laboratory building having library, semen processing and nutrition laboratories. Other available infrastructures include bull sheds, well-designed animal sheds, sick Animal Shed, feed stores and fodder processing unit, besides staff quarters and a guest house. The Sub-Campus has a well-established agriculture farm along with machinery for cultivation of feed and fodders for the livestock farm. This Sub-Campus is having a 12-unit milking machine installed for milking of buffaloes.
