Sub-campus of the institute was established on 1st December, 1987 at Bir-Dosanjh, Nabha in Punjab by acquiring land and other facilities from the Government of Punjab for research on improvement of Nili-Ravi buffaloes.

Mandate:

  • To establish an elite herd of Nili-Ravi buffaloes.
  • To conserve and propagate this breed.
  • To undertake research on all aspects of production and to undertake transfer of technologies to the end users.

The Sub-Campus is located at a distance of about 8 km from Nabha town in Patiala District. It is off the National Highway No. 1, approx. 250 KM from Delhi. The nearest airport is Chandigarh, 100 Km. from this Sub-campus. The Sub-campus has newly constructed Administrative-Block in addition to the old Laboratory building housing library, semen processing, nutrition and genetics laboratories. Other available infrastructures include bull sheds, well-designed animal sheds, calving pen, feed stores and fodder processing unit, besides staff quarters and a guest house.
