Director ICAR-CIRB, Dr. Inderjeet Singh explaining the importance of elite buffalo germplasm to Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji at the ‘Krishi Unnati Mela’ on March 19th 2016 at IARI, Pusa, New Delhi. Hon’ble PM took keen interest in the elite buffalo animals showed by the institute in the mela. Dr. Singh told Hon’ble PM that buffaloes alone contribute about 53% of country’s milk production and because of this only the country is No. 1 in milk production. Further, buffalo meat earns the country thirty thousand crore annually. The farmers are earning extra income from buffaloes and they fit best for ‘Make in India’ slogan.
